During the learner’s license stage, ICBC recommends 60 hours of behind-the-wheel practice time with your qualified supervisor. This practice time, in conjunction with taking lessons from a driver training professional, will help new drivers to build a strong foundation of skills and prepare to become a safe and confident driver. Driver training, in conjunction with quality practice with a qualified supervisor will typically prepare you for a successful road test.

First of all, you need to contact ICBC to schedule a knowledge test to get a learner’s license, also referred to as “Get your L” is the first stage in becoming a driver in B.C. You must be at least 16 years old to apply and applicants under the age of 19 need a parent or guardian to sign the application. Once you pass the multiple-choice knowledge test, you’ll hold a learner’s license for at least 12 months to practice with a supervising driver. Then, you can book your first assessment with us, learn defensive driving skills and best practices, then take a road test and graduate to the next level which is Novice level.

Having an N means you are now a novice driver and you are allowed to drive on your own.

Once you have your L, it’s time to practice. You can contact us and schedule your first assessment where we will evaluate you and recommend the best package for you to learn the best practices and safety procedures for driving. You can book a road test in advance at any ICBC driving test centers, then start training with us until your test. When you pass the test, you will get your Novice license.
